On August 26, 2025, a delegation from Sichuan University led by Mr. Liu Ke, General Manager of Sichuan University Technology Transfer Group, together with Professor Jiang Nan, Professor Ying Guoliang, and Dr. Li Hongze from the West China Key Laboratory of Bioprinting and Medical Sensing, visited Yangtze Optical Electronic Co., Ltd. (YOEC). The two parties held in-depth discussions and precise matchmaking on the industrialization cooperation of Professor Jiang Nan’s scientific research achievements.
Mr. Pi Yabin, Chairman and President of YOEC and President of the Sichuan University Alumni Association in Hubei, extended a warm welcome to the expert team. He was joined by Dr. Lian Zhenggang, Technical Director; Mr. Liu Lianhai, General Manager of the Marketing Center; Mr. Zhao Yanlin, General Manager of the Strategic Development Center; and other technical staff, who engaged in a cordial reception. Centered on the theme of “Transforming Scientific and Technological Achievements into Practical Applications,” both sides conducted pragmatic and efficient dialogue.
During the meeting, Professor Jiang Nan presented the core research results of his team in the fields of bioprinting and medical sensing. These included several technological breakthroughs with independent intellectual property rights, performance verification data at the laboratory stage, and the industrialization potential of these technologies in healthcare. Professor Jiang emphasized that the true value of university research lies in its industrialization, and highlighted YOEC’s strong foundation in optoelectronic R&D, large-scale manufacturing, and market expansion as an ideal platform for advancing technologies from the “laboratory” to the “production line.”
Mr. Liu Ke also introduced the support and incentive policies of Chengdu Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone for Class III innovative medical device products, which have high technological thresholds and significant clinical value in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries.
Mr. Pi stated that YOEC adheres to the development philosophy of “Technology Innovation Driving Industrial Upgrading.” Currently, the company has entered its third stage of development with a strategy of “internationalization and diversification.” The cooperation with Sichuan University’s West China Laboratory not only aligns with YOEC’s strategic layout in emerging fields such as biomedical sensing, but also leverages the research advantages of universities to fill key technological gaps in the industry. Both sides engaged in detailed discussions on technology optimization, industrialization pathways, and joint R&D mechanisms, and agreed to establish a dedicated working group to accelerate the transformation of scientific research achievements into productive capacity.
After the meeting, the Sichuan University expert team visited YOEC’s R&D building, fiber coil manufacturing workshop, and product testing center. From the production processes of high-precision fiber coils to the performance testing of optoelectronic sensing products, the experts gained a direct understanding of YOEC’s strong R&D capabilities, advanced manufacturing standards, and standardized production systems, laying a solid foundation for future cooperation.
This in-depth engagement between the Sichuan University expert team and YOEC represents a vivid practice of collaborative innovation between universities and enterprises, integrating “research–application–industrialization.” It highlights the complementary strengths of academia and industry, showcasing a model of synergistic cooperation. Moving forward, both parties will take this exchange as a starting point to deepen collaboration, establish a closed loop of “research–transformation–industry,” and inject new momentum into the integration of optoelectronic technology with biomedical applications. Together, they aim to drive high-quality development of related industries and create greater social and economic value.
